In English, we will explore letter writing and will also use the story to write our very own narrative. We will also explore diamante poems for poetry this half term.

In Maths, we will focus our learning on statistics and will be creating and interpreting tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams. We will then move onto position and direction.
Geography/ History
In this History unit, the children will explore the following question – How have Kings and Queens impacted our lives today? We will learn about British Monarchs from Queen Victoria to modern day and will also research their lives.
Science
Our topic in Science for this half term is Animals including humans. We will describe the importance of exercise and hygiene for humans and will learn about eating the right amounts of different types of food.
PSHE/RSE/ RE
In PSHE we will be looking at recognising, understanding and managing feelings.
In RE we will explore places of worship and will discuss why people like to belong to a sacred building.
Art/ D & T/ Music
We will continue to explore our artist ‘Guiseppe Arcrimboldo’. Children will use overlapping and overlaying to create effects.
In D&T our topic is on cooking and nutrition. The children will be making and evaluating their healthy wraps.
In Music our song for this half term is ‘Reflect, Rewind and Replay’.
PE day
Our PE days are a Tuesday and a Wednesday. We will practice throwing and catching, explore strength and discuss relationships with others.

Little Evie in the Wild Wood – Jackie Morris
Little Evie ventures into the wild woods with her basket of jam tarts and walks further and further into the trees, far from home. In a deep dark cave she finds a huge wolf. The wolf comes closer and closer and then Evie and the wolf share the tarts, sitting on the grass. Children will be writing a non-fiction animal description and a diary entry of personal experience.

In Maths, we will be learning about fractions and time.
Geography/ History
In this Geography unit, the children will explore the key question—Where would you like to live?
We will be using key human features to identify cities, towns and villages.
We will use maps and atlases to identify they key human features of the United Kingdom’s ports and harbours.
Science
Our topic in Science for this half term is plants. We will be observing and describing how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants. We will be finding out and describing what plants need to grow and stay healthy.
Educational Visit
We will be going to Standon Bowers for a 2-day residential, where we will have the opportunity to try many new activities.
PSHE/RSE/ RE
In PHSE we will be looking at what helps us grow and stay healthy.
In RE we will be looking at what it means to belong to a faith community.
Art/ D & T/ Music
Our artist for this half term is ‘Guiseppe Arcrimboldo’ Children will create patterns and will use a range of tools and surfaces.
In D&T our topic is on cooking and nutrition. The children will be exploring the different food groups to understand a balanced diet.

Flat Stanley ‘Flat Again’- Jeff Brown
Stanley is back and he is flat again. Even his brother Arthur can’t come up with a plan to re-inflate Stanley this time.
This half term we will be writing a narrative. We will also continue to explore free verse poems.

Geography/ History
In this Geography unit, the children will explore the key question—What does our landscape look like?
We will be looking at the physical geography of the UK’s beaches, cliffs, coasts, seas, oceans hills, mountains, forests, valleys, rivers and vegetation. We will also identify and describe the world’s highest mountain and the major rivers in different continents of the world.
Science
Our topic in science for this half term is habitats. We will be learning about and comparing the difference between habitats and micro-habitats by observing the natural world.
Educational Visit
We will be visiting Deep Hayes Country Park to observe and identify the physical features of our surroundings.
PSHE/RSE/ RE
In PSHE we will be looking at what helps us to stay safe. We will learn how to stay safe at home, at school and in the community.
In RE we will be looking at ‘what is the good news Christians believe Jesus brings?’
Art/ D & T/ Music
Our artist for this half term is ‘Clarice Cliff’. Children will be making and decorating their own clay pots inspired by Clarice Cliff.
In D&T we are continuing our topic on mechanisms. The children will be making and evaluating their own moving monster.

Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch by David Armitage
Children will be immersing themselves into, and using role play to understand the story. Through the text the children will learn all about Mr and Mrs Grinling’s plan to stop the seagulls from stealing their lunch. We even meet their pet cat Hamish along the way! We will be writing a narrative for the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.

This half term we will be learning multiplication and division. We will be looking at 2-, 5- and 10-times tables and division facts.

Our topic this half term will be History based – Our Local Heroes! We will be asking the key question - Who are our local heroes? We will be learning about the lives of some of the most significant people in the history of our locality. We will use a range of sources for evidence. Our final aim is to create a mini museum dedicated to the people that we have studied.

Living things
Our topic in Science for this half term is living things. We will be exploring and comparing the differences between things that are living, dead and things that have never been alive. We will then be describing how animals obtain their food from plants and other animals, using the idea of a simple food chain, and identify and name different sources of food.

When Hansel and Gretel find themselves lost in the forest, their discovery of a cottage made of sweet treats is a welcome surprise. But the owner is not so sweet! How will they escape?
Children will be writing to entertain through sequencing and retelling. They will also explore instruction writing.

Our topic this half term is a History based topic – The Great Fire of London.
During this topic we will sequence the events of the fire through drama and roleplay. We will also explore why the fire spread so quickly and will suggest how the fire could have been prevented.
Science
Our topic in Science for this half term is uses of everyday materials. We will be exploring the suitability of a variety of everyday materials for different uses and sorting them into categories based on whether they can squash, bend, stretch or twist.
Educational Visit
We will be visiting Ford Green Hall this half term.

In PHSE we will be looking at ‘What is bullying?’
We will discuss how words and actions can affect people and how to respond if this happens to us.
