Educational Visits

We had a fantastic stay at Standon Bowers and learnt so much whilst we were there. When we arrived, we were met by Mr S and straightaway he set us off to find and make our make our own beds... our first big challenge! In the afternoon, we spent time on the blindfold trail and climbing wall; testing our communication skills, perseverance and determination.

We all had an amazing time and tried our very best. After our evening meal, we had some free time and made sure to keep Mr Baskeyfield and Mr Thorley busy running around playing football and cricket! Once we had worn them out, Mr S called us down to a huge tipi where he had set lit a campfire. We sang silly campfire songs with him and danced around the fire. Mr S brought us all some marshmallows, and we toasted them on the campfire before relaxing with a hot chocolate. We were all very tired and ready for bed, so we went back to our dorms for the rest of the evening. The next morning, it was Mrs Nelson's turn to be kept busy and we made sure to wake up nice and early for her. We got ready and went down for our breakfast... the pancakes were our favourite; yum! Mr S and his twin, Mr S, had lots planned for us, so after we packed, we went to meet them. They took us to the archery and bridge building activities.

We worked really hard to make a bridge over the water and the staff were impressed with our hard work, communication, independence and determination to complete the task. Mr S made it trickier each time and we had to work together and trust each other to get across the water without falling in.

Once our morning activities were complete we had our lunch, and were so pleased to see the buses... we had an amazing time but we were ready to see our families! We worked hard on our independence, resilience and team work and Mr Baskeyfield, Mr Thorley and Mrs Nelson were incredibly impressed with how much progress we made. We all had an amazing time and learnt so much about what it means to work together.
