Educational Visits

We had the most amazing time sleeping over at Laches Wood! On our first day we arrived and we had to make our own beds... we couldn't believe it! We worked together as a team to get everything done and make sure we had a cosy bed ready for us after our first day of adventures. 

After lunch, we met Mr B and Miss T. They took us into the woods to explore the fairy houses and see if we could find any fairies. Then, we gathered materials from the woods to create our very own mythical creature. As if that wasn't enough fun we also played hide and seek in the woods with Mr B. Mr B is really good at finding people so, to give us a chance of winning, he helped us to dress up in some camouflage clothes.

After we'd eaten our dinner, we met Mr B for a scavenger hunt then he took us to the hall, where he had got us hot chocolate and cookies to have with a story before bed. 

We were all so tired that we could not wait to get into our pyjamas and get snuggled down in the beds we had made earlier! 

We made sure to wake all the staff up nice and early on the second day as we were worried they had been asleep for too long! We went for our breakfast and could not believe our eyes when the cook showed us the waffles that she had made for us! 

Our morning activity was bushcraft with Mr G and we were really excited to learn how to make fire and what a fire needs to burn. We used the flint and steel to create sparks; it was really tricky to do this but we perservered and managed to create lots of little sparks. Our eyes lit up when Mr G pulled out some marshmallows and showed us how to toast them on the fire. It turns out we are huge fans of freshly toasted marshmallows on our very own campfire. 

After that we had great fun using different equipment to create shelters in the woods. Mr G even let us hide in the shelter and to see if there was enough room to sleep. It was going really well until it started to rain! Hearing Mrs Nelson and Miss Heath laughing gave us a clue there was some mischief taking place.... Mr G had decided to test how waterproof our shelters were and used the watering can to create his own storm! It turns out they weren't very waterproof in some places! 

After all that fun we were ready for home, we were so pleased to see our minibuses arrive to bring us back home! We had the most amazing adventures and we really impressed all the staff with how independent and grown up we were!
